Ocean and Marinespace Economic Account

Ocean and Marinespace Economic Account

Nature of the Project: The Ocean Industries British Columbia Association was the creation of a merger in 2005 between two regional associations promoting the prospects of drilling offshore. By May of 2006 an “Inconvenient Truth” arose, which, combined with the Wall Street meltdown in 2008, required the organization to reposition for effectiveness.

Scope: Patrick Marshall served as the Chief Executive Officer for a two year period and presented a strategy to move the organization into an inter-disciplinary group to bring together the entrepreneurial, training, education and workforce attributes of more than 120 segments of the ocean and marinespace economy together. This involved transitioning the Board of Directors from an operating approach to a policy governance way of operating the Board of Directors.

Impact: This is a work in progress.
